Free Well Child Checks

Children need checkups as recommended in the Well Child Health Book. These are at  6 weeks, 3 months, 5 months, 9 months, 15 months, 2 years, 3 years and 5 years.

Childhood  Immunisation

The Highland Park Medical team strongly recommends and supports childhood  immunisation.
  • Without immunisation your child can infect others: unimmunised people can pass disease on to babies who are too young to be fully immunised.
  • Unimmunised people may be a risk to children and adults who can't be immunised for medical reasons these include people with leukaemia and other cancers who are receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy or large doses of corticosteroids..
The  Practice  Nurses  are  trained  in administration of the vaccines and can give parents the necessary advice and information and will remind you when your child’s next immunisation is due.

Our Clinic is linked to the National Immunisation Register. This means we can check what immunisations your child has had elsewhere and your child's immunisations that we administer are recorded on this register for the future.

Ear Health

Glue Ear Checks: If you are concerned that you child is not hearing properly, it can be due to a condition called Glue Ear (otitis media with effusion). A respiratory infection can cause the equalising tube (eustachian tube) to stop functioning and fluid can collect in the middle ear. This can be assessed by your doctor by looking in the ear and also with a device called a tympanometer.

A formal hearing test can be arranged by appointment with Joanna Wallace, our onsite audiologist.
